Sasamat Mudskipper Fresh and Salty B.C. Championships and Sasamat Open Water Swim
Presented by Canaqua Sports, the event takes place at Sasamat Lake, White Pine Beach and Belcarra Regional Park in Port Moody, British Columbia. It includes a provincial SwimRun championship and open water swim races.
The Mudskipper B.C. Championship is a 20.00 km SwimRun course that alternates freshwater swims in Sasamat Lake with trail runs through Belcarra Regional Park and at least one saltwater swim before returning to Sasamat Lake. A 10.00 km SwimRun Challenge route is offered as a shorter SwimRun option.
The Sasamat Open Water Swim consists of repeated 1.0 km loops; available race distances are listed below. Swim caps are provided and must be worn for participant identification; a race number will be inked on the upper back or shoulder. Water temperature at this time of year is given as 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, making wetsuits optional but recommended. On-site facilities include washrooms and food.
Event materials describe SwimRun equipment considerations: wetsuits (not SwimRun-specific are acceptable), water-compatible trail shoes, goggles, hand paddles and pull buoys within stated size limits. The event notes sponsors for wetsuits and partnerships for travel services and a charity partnership focused on childhood cancer awareness.
