Events Offered

This event combines two distinct activities: a provincial swimrun championship and an open water swimming competition.

The Mudskipper Fresh and Salty B.C. Championships is a 20 km swimrun race. The course alternates between freshwater swimming (Sasamat Lake) and saltwater swimming, with running segments in between. It passes through Belcarra Regional Park. A provincial championship title (B.C. Champion) is awarded to the top male and top female finishers.

A shorter 10 km version is also offered as the Sasamat Mudskipper Swimrun Challenge 10K, described as a good way to try the discipline.

The Sasamat Open Water Swim II offers open water swimming distances of 1 km, 3 km, and 5 km in Sasamat Lake.

Practical Information

The event takes place on September 27, 2026, at Sasamat Lake, on White Pine Beach Road, in Belcarra, British Columbia. It is presented by Canaqua Sports.

Participant check-in occurs on the morning of the event. A mandatory race briefing precedes the start. Swim caps are provided and must be worn. Water temperature at this time of year is noted to be between 60 and 70 °F (16-21 °C), making wetsuits optional but recommended.

Washrooms and food will be available on-site. The event is part of the Mudskipper Championship Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
