Mudskipper Fresh and Salty Canadian Swimrun Championships (2027)
The event is presented by Canaqua Sports and takes place at Sasamat Lake, White Pine Beach and Belcarra Regional Park in Port Moody, British Columbia on September 12, 2027. The program is sanctioned by Triathlon B.C.; participants must hold a Triathlon B.C. membership or purchase a one-day membership (daily rate CA$15.50).
Multiple race formats are offered:
- Mudskipper Canadian Individual SwimRun : 20.0K
- Sasamat Mudskipper SwimRun Challenge : 10.0K
- Sasamat Open Water Swim : 1.0K, 3.0K, 5.0K
- Sasamat Aquathlon : Run 2.5K, Swim 1.0K, Run 2.5K
The Fresh and Salty SwimRun course alternates freshwater swims in Sasamat Lake, trail runs through Belcarra Regional Park, and saltwater swims, with a total distance of 20.00K for the championship course. The 10K SwimRun uses shorter alternating swim and run stages around Sasamat Lake. Open-water swim races are composed of 1.0K loops; the aquathlon combines two short runs with a central 1.0K swim.
Practical race details: swim caps are provided and must be worn for identification, race numbers are inked on the upper back or shoulder, washrooms and food will be available, and a delay or cancellation would occur only in the event of lightning. Wetsuits are optional for many events; water temperatures are listed around 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Equipment notes describe use of shoes, paddles, pull buoys and flotation-aid size limits.
