Santa Anita Derby Day 5K
The Santa Anita Derby Day 5K takes place in Arcadia, California, offering a course that transitions through the Los Angeles Arboretum. Participants run or walk through botanical gardens and greenery before reaching the finish line located on the Santa Anita Race Track. This event occurs on the same day as the Derby Day horse races.
The event features several categories for different age groups:
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed course for general participation.
- 6-Furlong Race: A specific distance on the horse track for children aged 7 to 12.
- Homestretch Dash: A short sprint on the track for children aged 6 and under.
- Umamusume: Pretty Derby Team 5K: A themed 5K category for participants.
The total capacity for the event is limited to 7,500 people. Participants receive an official event shirt, a finisher medal, and chip timing. Registration includes entry and parking for the horse races following the run, as well as an admission ticket for a future visit to Santa Anita Park.
