The Sandy Rogers and Scotty Richardson Memorial Scholarship 5K Run
The event is the 3rd Annual Homecoming 5K at the University of South Carolina Aiken, held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Graniteville, SC. The run uses a new course on campus and benefits The Sandy Rogers and Scotty Richardson Memorial Scholarship. Proceeds support a scholarship awarded by the sociology program, with preference given to students pursuing criminal justice and demonstrating financial need. The scholarship honors two Aiken police officers who were killed in the line of duty in 2011 and 2012.
Logistics and entry
The race distance is 5K (3.1-mile) and it will be a chip-timed event. Each 5K participant receives a t-shirt if registered by February 4, 2026. Finalists receive medals. Registration categories and listed prices are:
- General Public: $30
- USC Aiken Student (discounted): $20
- First Responders and USC Aiken Faculty and Staff: $30
- Children 12 and Under: $20
Some entry fees increase after January 21, 2026 at 11:59pm EST; USC Aiken student registration closes January 21, 2026 at 11:59pm EST. Packet pickup is available the day before at USC Aiken Starbucks (471 University Pkwy, Aiken, SC 29803) with volunteers on site from 3:00 to 6:30 PM, and on race morning near the Convocation Center with volunteers from 6:30 to 7:50 AM. Race day parking is accessed from University Parkway onto Proud Pacer Drive, parking next to the baseball field. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
