The Sandy Rogers and Scotty Richardson Memorial Scholarship 5K Run
The University of South Carolina Aiken hosts the third annual Homecoming 5K run to benefit the Sandy Rogers and Scotty Richardson Memorial Scholarship. Proceeds from the 3.1-mile (5K) event support a scholarship awarded by the USC Aiken sociology program, with preference for students pursuing criminal justice who demonstrate financial need. The scholarship honors two Aiken police officers who were killed in the line of duty in 2011 and 2012. The event is family-friendly and open to all ages. The race uses chip timing; finalists receive ribbons. Participants who register by February 4, 2026, receive a race t-shirt.

Registration options listed include general public, a discounted student category for USC Aiken students, a category for first responders and USC Aiken faculty and staff, and a children 12 and under category; some categories have different entry fees and registration deadlines. Packet pickup is available the day before at the Starbucks inside the USC Aiken Student Activity Center (471 University Pkwy, Aiken, SC) and on race morning near the Convocation Center starting area.
