Trail Running in Delamere Forest
Defeat Delamere is a trail running event held at Delamere Forest in Cheshire. The event features a variety of distances held on woodland trails, gravel tracks, and natural forest paths. All adult courses include undulating terrain with a climb towards Pale Heights, providing views of the surrounding countryside. The routes are fully marked and supported by marshals.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- 16 km: The longest route for ages 16 and over, passing Blakemere Moss and Nettleford Wood.
- 10 km: A varied woodland course for ages 15 and over, including sections of the Sandstone Trail.
- 5 km: A shorter loop south of the railway line for ages 14 and over.
- Junior Race: A dedicated event for children aged 4 and over, who must be accompanied by an adult.
The adult races are chip-timed, and results are provided electronically on race day. Participants receive a finisher’s medal and a T-shirt. Water stations are positioned along the 10 km and 16 km routes, and post-race hydration is available at the finish for everyone.
The event village is located at the Delamere Forest Visitor Centre. Facilities at the site include public toilets and refreshments. The venue is accessible by car with official parking at Whitefield, Treetops, and the Main Visitor Centre car parks, where standard charges apply. Delamere Railway Station is approximately a five-minute walk from the event village. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
