Sandstone Sixer
The Sandstone Sixer is a six-hour timed running event held at Sandstone Ranch Open Space in Larkspur, CO. The course is an approximately 8-mile loop with about 765 feet of climbing and elevations between 6,533 and 6,843 feet. The loop is rolling and runnable on dirt surfaces and is marked in advance.
Runners complete as many 8-mile laps as they can within six hours. The loop passes the start and finish at mile 3.45, so participants encounter the aid station roughly every four miles. A timed checkpoint is located at the half-loop, so laps are recorded independently of personal devices. Loops must be completed to count. The event is cupless; participants should bring a personal drinking container.
This is the first edition of the Sandstone Sixer. Organizers provide course marking, stocked aid, timed checkpoints each half-loop, and awards. Every registrant receives a custom hat and raffle tickets.
Possible distance outcomes and recognition:
- 4 loops : 32 miles: 50K finisher medal
- 5 loops : 40 miles: 40-mile medal and additional raffle tickets
- 6 loops : 48 miles: special recognition for completing six loops
