Sandstone Sixer
The Sandstone Sixer is a six hour timed trail event at Sandstone Ranch Open Space in Larkspur, Colorado. Participants run an open format race on repeated loops and count the distance they cover in six hours.
The course is an approximately 8 mile loop with about 765 feet of climbing and a summit range between 6,533 and 6,843 feet. The terrain is described as rolling and runnable dirt trails without technical sections. The loop returns through the start and finish at mile 3.45, creating an aid opportunity roughly every four miles and a timed checkpoint at half a loop. Loops must be completed to count. The event is cupless, so participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle for aid station use.
Distances and recognition are based on completed loops:
- 4 loops, 32 miles 50K finisher medal
- 5 loops, 40 miles 40 mile medal and extra raffle tickets
- 6 loops, 48 miles special recognition for those who complete it
All registrants receive a custom hat and raffle tickets. Sandstone Ranch comprises 2,038 acres of Douglas County open space next to Pike National Forest, and the setting is typically quiet in November. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
