Sandhills Trail & Ultra Festival
The Sandhills Trail Race Series takes place at Sesquicentennial State Park in Columbia, South Carolina. The event uses a multi‑loop course that runs through pine forests and along the lakeshore, with sandy ridges and soft pine needle singletrack. The route also includes a few paved sections near the lake and rolling hills that produce varied footing and lake breezes.
Distance options include:
- 7.5‑Mile Fun Loop : one lap of singletrack and lakeside sections
- 25K : two laps
- 50K : four laps
- 30 Hour Ultra : continuous timed event across multiple laps
Aid stations provide snacks and drinks and the event operates as a cupless race, so participants are asked to bring their own hydration gear. Race registration includes park entry and several participant items such as a finisher medal, custom race bib, complimentary race photos, and timing with split tracking. The course passes through park campsite areas and camping and day use are available through the state park.
Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three in each age group. The race is part of the Upstate Trail Series and contributes to series points and recognition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
