Sandhills Adventure
The Sandhills Adventure is a multi-discipline endurance event held in Thedford, Nebraska. Participants navigate through the local landscape using maps and clues to locate as many checkpoints as possible within a set timeframe. The event base is located at Thedford City Park, situated south of Highway 2 and Main Street.
Participants can choose between two primary event durations:
- 2.5 hours
- 5 hours
The course incorporates several modes of travel, including running, hiking, biking, and kayaking. The routes take participants through back roads, the Halsey Forest, and along the Loup River. Skills such as basic map reading are required to locate the various checkpoints.
Registration is available for several divisions, including solo participants as well as two-person and three-person teams. Team categories include coed, male, and female divisions. Registration fees include a shirt, a medal, snacks, and drinks for all participants. There is a specific deadline for registration, typically two weeks before the event date. The event provides an opportunity to explore the local geography of the Sandhills region through coordinated physical activity and navigation.
