Event Details

The Sand Creek Trail Run is an event on Saturday, September 12th, 2026, at the Sand Creek Conservation District in Decatur, Illinois. It features a trail race on the fast rolling terrain of the Sand Creek Trails, part of the Macon County Conservation District, located on the south end of town.

Participants have two in-person distance options:

  • 4.4 miles
  • 7.6 miles

There are also corresponding virtual options for both distances.

Registration and Perks

The standard entry fee includes a unique long sleeve technical shirt, a finisher medal, and post-race snacks. Participants must register by September 1st to guarantee a shirt size. Registration is online only. Late, in-person registration may be possible during packet pickup, but race swag is not guaranteed.

Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, September 11th (time to be announced) and on race day, Saturday, September 12th, from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Sand Creek Conservation District.

Awards and Community

Prizes will be awarded for overall male and female finishers, as well as age group winners. All in-person participants are entered into drawings for prize packages from local businesses.
