Sand Creek Trail Run
The Sand Creek Trail Run takes place at the Sand Creek Conservation District in Decatur, Illinois. The event features multiple distance options navigating the trails of the Macon County Conservation District, located on the south end of town. The course consists of fast rolling terrain through local natural areas.
Participants can choose between two main distance options for the in-person event:
- 4.4 Miles
- 7.6 Miles
In addition to the in-person races, there are virtual versions available for both the 4.4 Mile and 7.6 Mile distances. Virtual participants are encouraged by the organizers to complete their miles at the Sand Creek Conservation District.
Registration includes a long-sleeve technical shirt for those who sign up by the specified September deadline, as well as a finisher medal and post-race snacks. Prizes are awarded to overall male and female winners, along with various age group categories. All in-person participants are entered into a drawing for prize packages provided by local businesses. The event utilizes chip timing for results.
The proceeds from the event benefit the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. This organization was established to provide assistance to the children of fallen United States special operations personnel. Registration for all race categories is conducted exclusively online.
