About the race
The Sand Creek Trail Run is a trail race held at Sand Creek Conservation District in Decatur, Illinois on September 12, 2026. The event offers two in-person distance options and matching virtual options, both run on the fast rolling terrain of the Sand Creek trails within the Macon County Conservation District.
Distances:
- 4.4 miles in-person and virtual option
- 7.6 miles in-person and virtual option
Entry includes a long sleeve technical shirt, a finisher medal, and post-race snacks. The event is chip timed by It's Race Time. In-person entrants are eligible for prize drawings from local businesses and awards for overall male and female finishers and age groups. Registration is online only; participants who register by September 1 are guaranteed a shirt. Late on-site registration may be available during packet pickup while space allows, but race swag is not guaranteed.
Packet pickup is scheduled Friday, September 11 at Kenney's Ace Hardware in Mt. Zion from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, and Saturday, September 12 at Sand Creek Conservation District from 9:00 to 9:30 am. Virtual participants are encouraged to run their miles at Sand Creek Conservation District and follow the same packet pickup arrangements.
