Program Overview

The Run 2 Ramble 5K Program is a free, eight-week beginning running program organized by the Decatur Running Club. It is designed for new runners or those returning after a long break. Club mentors provide guidance on building running ability safely and can help set a goal, such as completing a 5K.

Schedule & Locations

The program involves group runs at multiple locations. Meetings are held on Tuesday evenings at Fairview Park, Thursday evenings at Nelson Park, and Saturday mornings at Rock Springs Conservation Area. Attendance at every run is not required, but participants are encouraged to aim for two sessions per week.

Communication for the program is primarily handled through a Facebook group page. This group provides reminders about locations, what to expect, and suggested items to bring, like a water bottle.

Graduation & Benefits

The program culminates with the Rock Springs Ramble graduation race on June 6 at the Rock Springs Conservation Area, located at 3939 Nearing Ln in Decatur. Participants receive a $5 discount on registration for that race.

Program graduates receive a finisher medal, a hand-painted rock, and recognition for completing the program. A T-shirt is available for purchase. The graduation includes post-party food and beverages. Age group awards are presented in five-year increments up to age 75. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
