San Diego MLK 5K Walk / Fun Run
This event is a community walk and fun run held along Harbor Drive on the Embarcadero in San Diego. It commemorates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and promotes health, fitness, and broader access to healthcare, education, and workforce development through community activity. The start and finish are located near 1492 N Harbor Dr at the corner of Harbor Drive and Ash, close to Waterfront Park.
Distances offered:
- 3.1 miles 5K Walk / Fun Run with chip timing.
- 3.1 miles Virtual 5K option with mailed shirt and medal.
- 1 mile Cruiser Walk / Run without timing.
Registration for the on-site events includes an official shirt, medal, bib, and chip race timing for the timed 5K. A "School" option with age-based pricing intended to be free for school-age participants is available.
Packet pickup is scheduled for Fri. 1/15, 3pm - 8pm, location TBD; same-day on-site pickup is also available. Virtual participants can complete the distance anytime during race week, post results to the virtual leaderboard, and will receive race shirt and medal by mail within two weeks of the event date.
The event benefits the San Diego Alpha Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization supporting the Zeta Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
