The San Diego MLK 5K Walk / Fun Run takes place on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in the Embarcadero area of San Diego. The event includes the following distance options:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Cruiser Walk / Run
- Virtual 5K
- School Youth Free (free for ages 1-19)

Course, entries and logistics
The 5K is a 3.1-mile course down Harbor Drive, crossing into Seaport Village, following the harbor coastline and looping back to the start. The start and finish locations are listed at 1492 N. Harbor Dr. Timing is offered for the 5K; the 1 Mile Cruiser is not timed. Virtual participants may complete the distance anytime during race week and post results to a virtual leaderboard. Virtual registrants receive race shirt and medal by mail within two weeks of the event.
Registration information shows a deadline of January 17, 2026 at 12:00pm PST. Race packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, January 16 (3:00pm - 8:00pm) at Neighborhood House Association, 5660 Copley Dr, San Diego, CA 92111, with additional pickup available on race day during check in. Registration includes an official shirt, medal, runners bib, and chip race timing for timed entries.
