San Bruno Mountain Saddle Trail 5K
The event is an off road 5K that starts and finishes at the picnic area near the main entrance at 555 Guadalupe Canyon Parkway in San Bruno Mountain Park, Brisbane, CA. The course has a cumulative elevation gain of about 300 ft and uses a mix of grass, asphalt, and singletrack trail surfaces.
The start is on a grass field facing the green water fountain at the south side of the field. Runners leave the field between the fountain and the first tree to its left, then take an immediate right onto a path and another right onto the Day Camp Service Road. The route continues uphill to a turnaround, then returns toward the Edward Bacciocco, Jr. picnic area and exits onto Old Guadalupe Trail. After a southbound section on Old Guadalupe Trail (asphalt), the course turns right onto Saddle Loop Trail and follows that loop back to the picnic area, finishing on the same grass field near the north end.
Parking inside the park requires a $6 fee and dogs are not allowed inside the park. Street parking is available along Crocker Avenue near South Hill Boulevard; that trail entrance is approximately 0.8 mile from the race staging area. Participants are warned not to park along Guadalupe Canyon Parkway to avoid ticketing or towing. The Crocker Avenue approach is steep and winding.
