Event Overview

The Samurai Sprint 5K and Dojo Dash Fun Run is a fundraising event hosted by Budokan Newton Martial Arts and Sensei's Samurai. It is the second annual edition of the event, which takes place in downtown Newton, North Carolina. All proceeds benefit the William Alden Elliott Memorial Scholarship, a fund created to honor Alden Elliott, a graduate of Newton-Conover High School and a United States Marine who was killed in the line of duty on April 29, 2024. Sensei's Samurai is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization focused on community service and safety education.

Events

The event includes three registration options:

  • Samurai Sprint 5K: A 5 km run/walk.
  • Dojo Dash Fun Run: A shorter fun run.
  • T-Shirt Only: An option to purchase an event shirt without participating in a run.

Event Details

The event will be held rain or shine. Awards are presented for the overall top male and female finishers, as well as for the top male and female in each of several age groups, ranging from 10 & under to 60+. T-shirts are guaranteed for entries received by a specific date (April 1st).

Location

The event starts and finishes at the Frank & Sue Jones Amphitheater, located at 109 N Main Ave in Newton, NC. The 5K route travels through downtown Newton on streets including S.
