Event Overview
The Salty Half and 10K is an annual running event held in West Seattle. The race follows an out and back route starting from the Don Armeni Boat Ramp. Participants run along the Alki boardwalk and sidewalks, offering views of the Puget Sound and the Seattle skyline. The event is kept small to minimize disruption to the local neighborhood, and there is no registration available on the day of the race.
Distances
- Half Marathon: A 13.1 mile course extending along the Alki boardwalk and into Lincoln Park.
- 10K: A 10 km course that follows the Alki boardwalk.
Course Details
The courses utilize public boardwalks and sidewalks. Since vehicle traffic is not stopped by police, participants must remain on the sidewalks at all times. For the Half Marathon, runners must maintain a minimum pace of 13:30 minutes per mile to complete the distance within the three-hour time limit. Support stations are positioned along the route providing water, electrolytes, and gels. Restroom facilities are located at various points along the boardwalk and within Lincoln Park.
Logistics and Participation
Race bibs can be collected on the morning of the event or during a designated pre-race window at West Seattle Runner. Limited parking is available on nearby streets and at the boat ramp, though specific sections are reserved for boat trailers. Finishers receive a handcrafted glass fish and access to food at the finish line. Awards are presented to the top five male and top five female finishers in the Half Marathon category.
