Sallarulo's Race for Champions
Sallarulo's Race for Champions is an annual community 5K run/walk held on the campus of Nova Southeastern University. The 2026 edition takes place on Saturday, November 21, and marks the event's 21st anniversary. The event is organized to run alongside Special Olympics Florida athletes and supports Special Olympics Florida programs in Broward County.
The event supports local athletes and their families by raising funds for year-round sports training in 19 sports, as well as health services, inclusive programming and leadership training provided at no cost to participants. The 2026 fundraising goal is $300,000. An auction is planned for 2026, with details to be announced later in the year.
Registration for the event takes place in the courtyard between the Carl DeSantis Building and the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center on the NSU campus. Free parking is available in the adjacent lot across from the Art Center, and a campus parking garage has an entrance on Ray Ferraro Jr. Boulevard off SW 30th Street. Participants who cannot attend in person may participate virtually and complete their walk or run at a time and place that is convenient.
The event brings together community members and Special Olympics athletes to raise funds and visibility for local inclusive sports and services. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
