Salado VFW Auxiliary 12235 Turkey Trot Fun Run
The event is a community 5K fun run and walk held on November 21, 2026 at Liberty Park, Western Pavilion, in Belton, Texas (700 Veterans Way, 76513). The course follows sections of the Nolan Creek Hike and Bike Trails and is open to individuals, families and K9 companions.
Registration opens on September 1 and includes tiered fees: Early Bird (September 1 to October 4) $35, regular registration (October 5 to November 20) $40, and day of race $45. T shirts are guaranteed for registrations received by October 30, 2026. Race packets will be available for pick up the Saturday prior to the event at locations to be announced, and race day packet pick up will also be available at the Western Pavilion.
Awards include medals for the top three male and female finishers in each of these categories: Adults 18+, High School, Middle School, and Elementary School. There is a special Human K9 team category with top three placements. Competing K9s must be leashed and must walk or run the event; use of a pet stroller or carrier will disqualify a competing team. For general safety, all canines attending must be leashed or secured in a pet stroller or carrier.
The event will host raffles and a canned food drive benefiting Heart & Hands Ministries; entrants receive one free raffle ticket for every two canned goods donated. All proceeds support the Salado VFW Auxiliary and VFW Post 12235 programs for veterans, active duty members, their families, and the community.
