Boston-Qualifying Road Races in Sackets Harbor
The Sackets Harbor Marathon & Half Marathon takes place in the lake-side village of Sackets Harbor, New York. Both courses are officially certified (NY23021DNB and NY23020DNB), and the full marathon serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier. The event offers two primary distances:
- Marathon: A 26.2-mile course open to participants aged 16 and older.
- Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile course open to participants aged 13 and older.
The route is designed as an out-and-back course with the start and finish lines located on Pike Road, adjacent to the Madison Barracks Polo Field. The initial and final four miles of the races lead participants through the village and along the shores of Lake Ontario. Both distances share the first 6.55 miles of the route.
The course features a combination of lake-side views and rural country roads. The terrain includes some rolling hills with gentle elevation gains, followed by a descent toward the finish line. This layout is intended to provide runners with the opportunity to achieve a negative split. Military members, first responders, and front-line medical workers are eligible for a registration discount. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
