Sabino Canyon Sunset Run
The Sabino Canyon Sunset Run takes place in the Coronado National Forest at Sabino Canyon, located in Tucson, Arizona. This event offers participants the opportunity to run through a desert canyon setting during the late afternoon. The race venue is a recognized natural area in the American Southwest and serves as a prominent location for the local community.
Participants can choose from two distinct distances:
- 7.4 Miles
- 2 Miles
The 7.4 mile course has specific pace requirements for safety and volunteer coordination. Runners in this event must maintain a pace faster than 19 minutes per mile. There are mandatory cutoff times at specific points along the route, including the turnaround point at the top of the tram road and the third aid station at mile 5.1. Participants who do not reach these points within the set time limits are removed from the course.
Registrants for both the 7.4 mile and 2 mile events receive a soft race shirt. Those who complete the 7.4 mile distance are awarded a finisher medal. Post-race activities at the finish line include music, pizza, and snacks. Awards are provided for top performers in the longer distance, including overall winners, masters, and various age groups. Due to permit restrictions, the event has a maximum capacity for registrants and does not offer refunds or waitlists. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
