Rylee's Run/Walk 5K
Rylee's Run/Walk 5K is a community 5-kilometre run and walk held at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Memphis, Tennessee. The event is offered as both an in-person and a virtual race. It was established in 2012 alongside an existing soccer tournament that began in 2010 to support hospital care important to the organizers.
The race commemorates the life of an infant who was born prematurely and died shortly after birth; proceeds support the LeBonheur Children's Hospital Neuroscience Institute and NICU. Fundraising is part of the event and the organizer lists a monetary goal and total raised to date.
Race weekend includes packet pickup at a local running store and on-site packet pickup at the soccer complex. A post-race gathering is planned with food options that have included pasta, cookies, frozen yogurt, and chocolate milk for children. Registration categories include adult and kids 5K entries, a spirit runner option for a race shirt only, and a virtual participant option; virtual results are posted but are not eligible for age-group prizes.
The event partners with a local athletic store for packet distribution and lists volunteer, sponsorship, team, and donation opportunities as part of its support structure. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
