RutFest

RutFest (Richmond Ultra Trail Festival)

RutFest is a community running and hiking event held at the Catamount Outdoor Family Center in Williston, VT. The event runs over a roughly 36-hour period and uses two trail loops that participants repeat as they choose. The loops lie on the north and south sides of Catamount and measure about 3 miles and 4 miles respectively.

Participants check in at the main aid station when they start laps and are asked to check in with a volunteer when leaving for safety. Registered participants receive event updates by email. All participants are asked to sign up for a one-hour volunteer shift at the aid station and to donate a snack to the aid station.

Entry is donation based with suggested amounts and optional add-on donations for partner organizations; a free voucher is available on request. Net proceeds are split evenly between Catamount Outdoor Family Center and Migrant Justice.

Catamount Outdoor Family Center is a nonprofit that manages the Catamount Community Forest, offering year-round outdoor recreation on over 400 acres, including mountain biking, hiking, trail running, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Migrant Justice is a Vermont-based, immigrant farmworker-led organization that advocates for the rights and economic justice of immigrant farmworkers and organizes campaigns and a rapid response network.
