RutFest
RutFest is a community trail festival held at Catamount Outdoor Family Center in Williston, Vermont. It is the sixth annual edition and runs as a 36 hour event with one additional hour for Daylight Savings Time. The format uses two distinct trail loops that participants may repeat as they wish.
- 3 miles loop on the north side of Catamount
- 4 miles loop on the south side of Catamount
Participants check in at the main aid station and may start laps whenever they choose during the event period. The event asks participants to sign up for a one hour volunteer shift at the aid station and to donate a snack to the aid station. Check in with a volunteer when leaving the event area for safety reasons. Registered participants receive event updates and information by email.
Entry is donation based, with suggested amounts and optional add-on donations to support chosen organizations. Free vouchers are available for those who cannot afford a donation. All profits from the event are split 50/50 between Catamount Outdoor Family Center and Migrant Justice.
Catamount Outdoor Family Center manages the Catamount Community Forest, a nonprofit area of over 400 acres that offers year round outdoor recreation including mountain biking, hiking, trail running, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.
