RutFest (Richmond Ultra Trail Festival) : Williston, VT
RutFest is the sixth annual weekend event focused on trail running and hiking at Catamount Outdoor Family Center in Williston, Vermont. The event is organized as a 36 hour experience (includes one bonus hour for Daylight Savings Time) where participants run two different trail loops on repeat according to their own plans. The setting offers views of Camel's Hump and Mt. Mansfield.
The event is presented as a relaxed, low-key community gathering rather than a competition. Entry is donation based; a range of suggested donation amounts and optional add-on donations are offered. Registered participants receive event updates by email. All participants are asked to sign up for a one hour volunteer shift at the aid station and to contribute a snack for the aid station.
Runners check in at the main aid station and may start laps whenever they choose during the event window. The two loops alternate on the north and south sides of Catamount. For safety, participants are asked to check in with a volunteer when they leave the course area.
