This organization supports the families of wildland firefighters and those who have been killed or injured while on duty.

A fundraising page is created for each participant upon registration. Participants can also gather pledges for each lap they complete. The event has a cold weather policy, which states that organizers may cancel, delay, or shorten the event due to unsafe winter conditions.
