About the race
Amigos De Bolsa Chica, in partnership with Bolsa Chica State Beach, is organizing an Earth Day run, walk and beach cleanup on April 24, 2027 at Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach, CA. The event combines timed road races, plogging runs, a kids dash, and a separate beach clean up option.
Event distances and options include:
- Plover Dash - 5K
- Brown Pelican - 10K
- Fuzzy Feathers Kids Run - 400 yards (ages 2 to 7; parents may run with children)
- 5K Plogging
- 10K Plogging
- Beach clean up only (no entry fee)
Registered participants in the 5K, 10K and plogging events receive a commemorative medal and a limited-edition race shirt that features a Bolsa Chica bird design. The event offers downloadable race day photos, professional chip timing, overall and age group awards, and a finish line festival with vendors and community activities. The on-site expo includes interactive wetlands exhibits and educational displays related to the Bolsa Chica wetlands. Additional services listed for race day include bike valet and gear check. Proceeds from the event support the Amigos de Bolsa Chica environmental education and leadership programs.
