Running Is For The Birds
A run, walk, and beach cleanup event at Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach, California. The program combines traditional road races with plogging options and a cleanup-only participation choice, all held along a paved beachside course.
Event distances include:
- Plover Dash 5K
- Brown Pelican 10K
- Fuzzy Feathers Kids Run 400 yards (ages 2 to 7; parents may run with children)
- 5K Plogging
- 10K Plogging
- Beach cleanup only
The course is described as flat, fast, and paved with ocean views. Plogging is presented as running while picking up litter along the route. The kids dash is a short 400 yard dash for young children and includes commemorative medals and special prizes.
Participants in the 5K, 10K, and plogging events receive a commemorative medal, a limited edition race shirt designed by a local artist, and free race day photos. The event offers overall and age group awards, professional chip timing with results synced to Athlinks, a finish line festival with vendors and music, bike valet, and gear check.
