Event overview
Running Is For The Birds is an Earth Day run, walk, and beach cleanup set for April 25, 2026 at Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach, California. The event is hosted by Amigos de Bolsa Chica in conjunction with Bolsa Chica State Beach. Multiple event options are offered along a flat, paved course that runs near the beach.

Race features and logistics
Participants in the 5K, 10K, and plogging events receive a commemorative medal, a limited-edition race shirt, free race-day photos, and chip timing with results synced to Athlinks. The event includes overall and age-group awards, a finish-line festival with vendors, a bike valet, gear check, and free beach parking available through the main kiosk entrance on Pacific Coast Highway. The event location and start area are in Lot 25 at Bolsa Chica State Beach; nearby Lot 24 or 23 may be used if Lot 25 is full.
Charity and community
Proceeds support Amigos de Bolsa Chica’s education programs for children, schools, and the public. Amigos de Bolsa Chica is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1976.
