Event Overview
Runnin' To The Rig takes place at Bakersfield High School, offering participants a path through the historic campus. The event serves as a community fundraiser, with courses designed to highlight the school's heritage and landmarks. Participants can choose between running and walking distances that navigate various parts of the grounds.
Multiple event options are available:
- 5k running race starting on Morrow Field and finishing near the football tunnel.
- 2k walking tour through iconic campus spots and historic buildings.
- Legacy Tour, a small group guided walk visiting restricted areas like the archiving room.
The 5k course concludes at Griffith Stadium. Finisher medals are provided to all participants, with specific allocations mentioned for the first 200 general runners and the first 100 youth participants. Race t-shirts are available for an additional fee for those who register by the designated early February deadline.
The 2k walking route includes locations such as the Harvey Auditorium stage, which dates back to 1948. This path focuses on the history of the campus and provides opportunities for photography within the school's older structures. The private campus tour offers further access to areas like the culinary classroom, the band room, and the green room.
