Event overview
Runnin' for a Cause, Not from the Cops is a charity 5K event organized by the Nantucket Police Charitable Association and scheduled for mid May 2026. The event offers two options:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Virtual 5k Run/Walk
Both events list an entry fee of $35. The event location for in-person participants is the Surfside Beach Parking Lot, 4 Western Ave, Nantucket, MA 02554. Registration for the in-person 5K opens January 1, 2026. Registration for the virtual 5K opens March 17, 2026.
Purpose and logistics
Proceeds from the race are directed to local initiatives on Nantucket. Past uses of funds include scholarships for graduating high school seniors and alumni, an annual Children’s Christmas Party, the Pink Patch project supporting the Marla Ceely Lamb fund, youth programs, and other community-based organizations. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers.
Bib pick up is arranged at the Nantucket Police Department lobby the day before the event and also on the morning of the race. A course map is available via the event page. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
