Shepton Mallet Runaway Train
The Shepton Mallet Runaway Train takes place on Sunday 2nd May 2027 to celebrate the Windsor Hill railway path. The event combines a rugged trail race with a communal meal in Shepton Mallet market place.
There is a choice of three routes that run along the former railway line and surrounding countryside. The courses pass through woods and valleys, include dark tunnels and high viaducts, and offer views of distant hills. All routes finish in the heart of Shepton Mallet.

Walkers and families may take part either with an early start on the full runner’s route or by using a shorter version that goes to Ham Woods and back. The event presents options for participants who prefer walking rather than running.
