Runaway Pumpkin 10K - Laconia
Runaway Pumpkin is a community fundraising run held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Smith Track at Opechee Park, 879 North Main Street, Laconia, NH. Proceeds benefit the WOW Trail and the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction.
The event offers multiple distance options:
- 10K around Lake Opechee and along the WOW Trail.
- 5K out-and-back course with views of Lake Opechee.
- Kids Fun Run in the track oval, no charge; costumes or orange wear encouraged.
The 10K course starts on North Main Street near Smith Track and follows a route that includes Busiel Street, Edgewater Avenue, Lewis Street, Old North Main Street, Roundbay Road, Anthony Drive, Elm Street, Jefferson Street, Washington Street, Franklin Street, a crossing at the Lakeport Dam, and a section on the WOW Trail before returning to the Smith Track parking lot. The 5K follows a similar out-and-back route.
Chip timing is provided by Millenium Running. Results are published online. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in each age category for both distances. Strollers are allowed and should start at the back of the pack. Dogs and cats are not allowed on the courses for safety reasons.
Parking is available at Laconia Middle School and Pleasant Street School. Fundraising options are available and participants who raise $100 receive a WOW Trail OGIO Sprint Pack. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
