About the race
The Runaway Pumpkin event in Laconia takes place on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Smith Track at Opechee Park, 879 North Main Street. Proceeds benefit the WOW Trail and the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction.
Distances offered include:
- 10K
- 5K
- Kids Fun Run (no charge)
The 10K course loops around Lake Opechee and uses a section of the WOW Trail; it passes the Laconia Country Club, crosses the Lakeport Dam, and returns to the Smith Track parking lot for the finish. The 5K is an out-and-back route with views of Lake Opechee. Dogs are not permitted on the courses for safety; strollers are allowed but requested to start at the back of the field.
Chip timing is provided by Millenium Running and results are posted online after the race. Awards include prizes for the top three overall male and female finishers and top three in each age group for both the 10K and 5K, with specified cash prizes for top finishers and course records. Awards must be claimed at the awards tent and will not be mailed.
Registration categories carry different fees by date and age, and registrants who sign up by October 10 receive an event shirt. Parking is available at nearby school lots. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
