About the race
Run4Lighthouse 2026 is a community fundraising event held at Spencer Smith Park, located along the waterfront in Downtown Burlington. The event supports grief support groups for children and families. Participants can choose between different distances and formats:
- 5 km (In Person): A chip-timed walk or run for adults and children.
- 1 km (In Person): A non-timed walk or run for all ages.
- Virtual: An option to complete either 1 km or 5 km on an individual schedule.
The venue at Spencer Smith Park provides various facilities, including a bag check service, clean washrooms, and handwashing stations. Partners at the event offer food and beverage items for sampling and purchase. Specific activities for children are available on-site, such as a bouncy castle and a slide.
All participants, including those in the virtual categories, receive medals. As an Athletics Ontario sanctioned event, it follows industry best practices for health, safety, and emergency management. Free parking is available on weekends at Burlington Municipal Lots, including the parking garage on Locust Street and areas near the Burlington Performing Arts Center. To encourage sustainability, options for carpooling, cycling, and public transit are recommended for accessing the park via Brant Street.
