Run with the Govs
Run with the Govs is an annual road and trail running event held in Pierre, South Dakota, with a course that passes bronze statues of former governors and runs near the State Capitol in Hilger's Gulch. The advertised distance for the main race is 3.6 Miles and the route is available on Map My Run.
Registration has a fee of $25.00 and opens January 31, 2026, closing June 13, 2026. Registered participants receive race entry, a collector bib, and a t shirt guaranteed if registration is completed by June 1, 2026. Water is provided at the finish and snacks are available for refueling. Food trucks will be onsite.
The event uses parking lots on the north side of the Capitol and along Nicollet Street, Broadway Avenue, and the Capitol Parking Lot. The start and finish are located behind the State Capitol building in Hilger's Gulch. Participants of all ages are permitted, including children in strollers and dogs on leashes. Awards are given to the overall male and female winners and to the top male and female in the 12 and under age group.
Race registration fees and additional donations are contributed to the Trail of Governors Foundation. The organizer lists local lodging and dining options on the Chamber of Commerce site for out of town attendees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
