Run With The Goats - Eighth annual
Run With The Goats is a 50K trail event held on single-track trails in Reata Canyon near Kennewick, WA. The route is entirely on private property; participants are asked to be respectful of landowners and other trail users, including horses. The full 50K includes 4,280 feet of climbing, spread over multiple laps.
The event is organized into three divisions: "Beers", "Lights", and "Sobers". The course is composed of seven laps of about 4.5 miles each. "Beers" must drink a 16 ounce beer before each lap and "Lights" must drink a 12 ounce beer before each lap. "Sobers" drink a 12 ounce fizzy non alcoholic beverage of their choice before each lap and must supply their own fizzy drinks. Only entrants who complete all seven laps and take the required beverage before each lap receive an official finish; others are recorded as DNF. "Lights" are scored separately from the other divisions.
Logistics include porta potties and a fire pit at the start area, and a wall tent will be used if weather is poor. The start and finish are on private property where a gathering and potluck will take place; participants are encouraged to bring a dish to share. The field is capped at 50 entrants; a waitlist opens once the cap is reached and waitlisters have 24 hours to accept an invitation. Beer and light entrants must arrange a ride home or carpool with a sober entrant. All entrants receive a custom pint glass. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
