Run With Responders 5K
The Run With Responders 5K is a community event held at Windsor's Civic Terrace in Ontario. The event is open to the general public and honors local first responders, featuring stationary police, fire, EMS, and border service vehicles along the route.
The available distances include:
- 5 km run or walk
- 800 m kid's run
- Kid's Dash
The 5 km course follows an out-and-back format on the Riverfront Trail. Participants head west through Dieppe Park and the Windsor Sculpture Park, passing landmarks such as the Legacy Beacon and Streetcar No. 351, before returning to the start/finish line at the Windsor Firefighters Monument. Water stations are positioned at every kilometer, and a lead bicycle directs participants along the path. For safety reasons, inline skating, cycling, strollers, and animals are not permitted on the course.
The race utilizes electronic chip timing provided by Windsor Timing. While all participants receive a t-shirt, finisher medals are guaranteed only for the first 450 registrants. Post-race refreshments are provided, and awards are presented to the top finishers in various age categories. Proceeds from the event provide financial support to the Canadian Mental Health Association, The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario, and The Windsor Firefighters Benefit Fund.
