About the race
Run with Los Muertos is a community event that continues a centuries-old tradition by bringing together community groups, teams, artists, musicians, runners, and attendees from the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The program includes public education offerings such as workshops and workouts that lead up to a block party in Old Town Coachella. The block party features a procession, an art walk, a car show, a 5k run, a vendor village, and three stages of live entertainment.
The event is presented as a free, multi-generational celebration that provides a platform for local talent and attracts visitors to the Eastern Coachella Valley. It has included cultural exchanges with artisans, musicians, and chefs from Oaxaca, Michoacan, and Mexicali. The event night is scheduled for November 7, 2026, at Old Town Coachella, 1515 6th Street, Coachella, California. Pre-race packet pickup is scheduled on November 5, 2026 at Lululemon, 73425 El Paseo, Palm Desert, and on November 6, 2026 at the Coachella Library, 1500 6th Street, Coachella.
A code of conduct outlines safety rules, including that only certified service dogs are allowed on site and on the race route, no weapons are permitted, no outside food or beverages, restrictions on flags or signs for 5k participants, and that participants must remain within designated course boundaries.
