Event Details
The Run Wild for the Cape May County Zoo is a multi-event race happening on April 19, 2026. The event is held at the Cape May County Park & Zoo in Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
Events
Three main events are offered:
- 5K Run
- 1 Mile Walk
- Free Kids Race (a quarter-mile dash)
All distance options are described as stroller-friendly. Kids aged 5 and under do not need to be registered for the main events, and participants aged 6-18 receive an automatic discount. A kids' quarter-mile dash requires pre-registration.
Course and Venue
The 5K run and 1-mile walk take place in and around the zoo grounds. The event is described as a "cupless event," with runners encouraged to bring their own hydration. Water is available at the finish line. There are "slow zones" on the course near sensitive animal enclosures like the bears and kangaroos, where runners may be asked to slow their pace.
Parking is free and available near the start and finish lines. Restrooms are located near the start/finish line and at one point on the course. Spectators are welcome near the finish line, but non-participants are not allowed in the zoo during the race.
Additional Information
Shirts are guaranteed for participants registered by April 1. Medals are given to overall and age group winners in the 5K. Awards are available for pickup at a bank branch; they are not mailed.
Proceeds from the event support the Cape May County Zoological Society and the Step Back Foundation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
