About the race
Run to Remember is the sixth annual memorial run held in Urbana on October 17, 2026. The event offers two distances and takes place in and around Crystal Lake Park, with proceeds supporting United Way of Champaign County and the Community Foundation of East Central Illinois.
The event distances include:
- 5-mile course starting and finishing in Crystal Lake Park, with an opening loop and an out-and-back section that follows Church St., N. Orchard St., N. Coler Ave., N. Country Club Rd., and Broadway Ave.
- 5K Run/Walk that begins at the same location and completes two loops of the park.
Logistics note that free parking is available at the Fairgrounds off N. Coler Ave, a short walk to the start staging area. Packet pickup is available at Body n’ Sole Sports in Savoy and at Crystal Lake Park on race day. Entrants receive a front bib with name and race number and a 5 x 7 back bib labeled Today, I Remember for writing names or events being remembered.
A wave start system assigns letters A through F based on estimated finish times; strollers are allowed in the 5K only and must start in the walker corral. Aid includes one hydration station inside the park and one outside for the 5-milers; post-race refreshments include bottled water and electrolyte drink. Participants receive a Bella + Canvas short sleeve unisex jersey tee, a finisher medal, and post-race food. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
