Run to Remember - Urbana

Run to Remember is the fifth annual community event held on October 4, 2025, in and around Crystal Lake Park in Urbana. The event offers two distances for in person and virtual participation:

  • 5 mile starting and finishing in Crystal Lake Park
  • 5K Run/Walk consisting of two loops of the park

The 5 mile course begins on the main road adjacent to the large pavilion, includes an initial loop through the park, follows local streets including Church Street, N. Orchard Street, N. Coler Avenue, N. Country Club Road, and Broadway Avenue, then returns to the park to finish near the Boat House. Free parking is available at the Fairgrounds off N. Coler Avenue, a short walk to the start staging area.

Packet pickup is available before race day at Body n’ Sole Sports in Savoy at 1317 N Dunlap Ave, and also on race morning at the large pavilion at Crystal Lake Park. Entrants receive an emailed race number and QR code in advance for packet pickup. All entrants receive a front bib with name and number and a 5 x 7 back bib labeled "Today, I Remember..." with space to write names or events being remembered.

The event uses a wave start with bib letters A through F assigned by estimated finish time; timing is recorded via the device on the back of the bib. Strollers are allowed in the 5K only and must start in the walker corral. There is one hydration station inside the park and one outside for the 5 mile course; water and lemon lime Nuun Endurance are provided.

In person entrants receive a Bella + Canvas short sleeve unisex shirt in heather marmalade, a finisher medal, and post race food and drink. Race results and awards include overall top three male and female finishers for the in person 5 mile and 5K, plus three deep age group awards based on chip time. Proceeds from the race benefit United Way of Champaign County and the Community Foundation of East Central Illinois. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
