Run to Remember Urbana
Run to Remember is an annual community race held in and around Crystal Lake Park in Urbana on October 17. The event honors the memories of those people and events the community remembers and supports peaceful reflection.
The race offers the following distances:
- 5 mile Run
- 5K Run/Walk
The 5 mile course starts and ends in Crystal Lake Park, beginning on the main road adjacent to the large pavilion. After an opening loop through the park, the 5 mile route continues outside the park along Church St., N. Orchard St., N. Coler Ave., N. Country Club Rd., and Broadway Ave., then returns to the park for a short loop to finish near the Boat House. The 5K follows two loops of the park and finishes at the straightaway near the Boat House. Free parking is available at the Fairgrounds off N. Coler Ave, a short walk to the start staging area.
Packet pickup is available at Body n' Sole Sports, 1317 N Dunlap Ave, Savoy, Illinois, on the scheduled days before the race and on race morning in the large pavilion at Crystal Lake Park. Entrants receive an email with an assigned race number and a unique QR code. The event uses a back bib that allows participants and volunteers to write names or events they remember.
Race amenities include a Bella + Canvas short sleeve unisex jersey tee in multiple adult and youth sizes, a finisher medal, post race food and drink, and free race photos for in person entrants. A wave start system uses corrals labeled A through F; a timing device is attached to the back of the race bib. Strollers are allowed in the 5K only and must start in the walker corral. There is one hydration station inside the park and one outside the park serving water and lemon lime Nuun Endurance.
Overall awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers in each in person distance, plus three deep age group awards for the listed age categories.
