Run the Runway : Schenectady County Airport, Glenville

This event features a 5K held on the active runways and newly paved taxiways of Schenectady County Airport, an airport that handles about 50,000 flight operations per year. The course uses the same runway operated by the New York State Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing and its LC-130 "Ski Birds," aircraft noted for Antarctic ice landings. Runners, joggers, and walkers of all ages are welcome.

Young participants age 12 and under may take part in a free 1-mile fun run down the main runway. Following the 5K, participants have free admission to the Empire State Aerosciences Museum at the airport for the day. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Empire State Aerosciences Museum, 250 Ruby Chase Drive, Glenville, NY 12302. Race registration for the 5K is listed at $35, with a discount available for active military, retirees, and veterans.
