Run The Rock is a pair of loop-style trail races held within Smith Rock State Park and the Crooked River National Grasslands near Bend, Oregon. Distances offered:
- 50K
- Half marathon (13.1 miles)
The 50K course uses nearly all trails in the park, including Misery Ridge, sections below the Monkey Face, and a large loop around Gray Butte. The course lists approximately 5000 ft of elevation gain and 5000 ft of loss. About 85% of the route is single-track trail and 15% is double-track or dirt road. There are four fully stocked aid stations.
The half marathon provides extended views of the Cascade Range and the Monkey Face, with about 2500 ft of climbing over 13.1 miles. Roughly 90% of the half marathon is on single-track trail and there is one full aid station.
Logistics note that all participants must park off-site at DD Ranch, with a free shuttle to the park. Nearest airports are Portland and Redmond. Lodging options include a partner hotel offering a 25 percent discount and additional choices in Redmond, Madras, and Bend with varying drive times. Pre-race coffee and post-race food and beverages are provided. All finishers receive a custom award.
