Overview
Run The Rock is a trail running event at Smith Rock State Park near Bend, Oregon. It offers two loop-style races: a 50K and a half marathon. The courses pass through Smith Rock State Park and the Crooked River National Grasslands, with views of the Cascade Range.
The Courses
The 50K course covers nearly all trails in the park, including climbs like Misery Ridge and passes near Monkey Face. The route goes around Gray Butte. It has about 5500 feet of elevation gain and loss. 85% of the course is on single-track trails, with 15% on double-track and dirt roads. There are four aid stations.
The half marathon course also offers views of the Cascade Range and Monkey Face. It has about 2500 feet of climbing. 90% of the course is on single-track trails. There is one full aid station.
Registration and Policies
Registration opens on April 1, 2026. A 25% discount is offered to veterans and active military members with valid ID; contact must be made before registering. The event has a strict cancellation policy: no transfers to other runners are allowed. Cancellations more than 30 days before the race may receive a 50% credit for the following year's event. Cancellations within 30 days of the race receive no credit, refund, or transfer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
