Run the River Along the Thames

Run the River is a charity running event held in London that follows a course along the River Thames. The event takes place on Wednesday 16 September 2026, starting at Potters Fields Park near Tooley Street. Participants can choose between two main distances:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km

The event is open to both runners and walkers. Participants are organized into waves based on their chosen distance and predicted pace. The route passes several prominent London landmarks during the evening as the city lights up.

All registered participants receive a technical running t-shirt and a finisher's medal upon completion. The event site includes an event village at Potters Fields Park with a bag drop facility and a warm-up area. Race packs, including bibs and t-shirts, are mailed to participants who register by late August, while later registrants and international participants can collect their materials from the information tent on the day of the event.

The event supports educational initiatives, with proceeds going toward training teachers and supporting schools. An optional post-race drinks reception is hosted at a nearby venue at Tower Bridge, which requires a separate ticket. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
