Run The Caves
Run The Caves is organized by Body and Mind Adventures (BAM) and is in its third year. The event takes place at Warsaw Caves Conservation Area, 289 Caves Road, in the Indian River valley, about 25 minutes from Peterborough. A portion of registration fees will be donated to the CMHA (Canadian Mental Health Association) and the event aims to raise awareness for mental health while remaining accessible to athletes.
Organizers work with Otonabee Conservation Areas staff, volunteers, and sponsors. The event promotes green initiatives and is cup free.
Terrain includes sweet single track, soft forest floor, rocks and tree roots, some sandy beach sections, and short stretches of gravel road. Views range from open lookouts to trails mostly covered by large, mature forest, described as "forest bathing." The races are bib and chip timed.
On-site park facilities include swimming, fishing, camping, day-use picnic sites, and hiking trails. The park offers more than 20 km of mostly single-track trails, scenic lookouts over the river valley, potholes, kettles, and sections where the river disappears under the rock.
Distances offered:
- 1 km Kids Run
- 5 km Walk/Run
- 10 km Walk/Run
