Run The Caves - Warsaw Caves Conservation Area
Run The Caves is the third annual event presented by Body and Mind Adventures. The BAM committee aims to provide an accessible race and to raise awareness for the Canadian Mental Health Association. A portion of registration fees will be donated to CMHA.
The races take place in Warsaw Caves Conservation Area in the Indian River valley, about 25 minutes outside Peterborough. The park features more than 20 km of mostly single track trails, limestone plains, scenic lookouts over the valley, and geological features such as potholes and areas where the river disappears beneath the rocks. The conservation area also offers swimming, fishing, camping, day use picnic sites, and hiking trails.
Terrain includes sweet single track, soft forest floor, rocks and tree roots, some sandy beach sections, and short stretches of gravel roads. The organizers emphasize environmental responsibility and run the event as cup free.
The event is bib and chip timed. Prizes are awarded to top male and female finishers in each distance and all participants receive hand made race medals. Merchandise will be available during registration and on race day. After each distance, winners are announced and vegetarian chili with buns will be served at the finish.
