Run the Cape : Tulbagh Valley

Run the Cape is an all-inclusive, limited-capacity trail running and culinary event held in the Tulbagh Valley. The weekend is limited to 80 participants and welcomes runners and walkers. Participants base at De Stilte Farmstay and follow three distinct daily routes that traverse Cape fynbos, pine forest and valley farmland.

The daily routes:

  • Day 1: 7 km route with 230 m elevation, single-track, jeep-track and pine forest.
  • Day 2: 19 km route with 680 m climbing; an alternative shorter option is available (chicken run of 9 km or 11 km).
  • Day 3: 5 km route with 180 m climbing, finishing back at camp.

Courses include refreshment stops at set points on each day. Day 1 crosses the Boonjtiesrivier, passes wheat fields and features a Valley View switchback with a downhill single track back to the event village. Day 2 traverses the Witzenberg range, passes game park areas and several waterpoints, and finishes through farm sections. Day 3 runs along farm tracks and plateaus with valley vistas and a possible dam plunge. All participants receive a merchandise kit that includes an event run garment and local products. The event lists De Stilte, 262 Boointjies Rivier Road, Tulbagh, 6820, South Africa as its location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
