Run Port Stephens is a coastal running festival held in Nelson Bay within the Port Stephens region. The event offers multiple race distances that follow out-and-back courses along foreshore, parkland and shaded forest trails.
Available distances:
- Marathon three laps out-and-back showcasing waterfront and forest trails.
- Half marathon one and a half laps out-and-back combining waterfront and shaded trails.
- 10 km one lap out-and-back with waterfront views.
- 5 km one lap out-and-back along the coast.
- 2 km fun run one lap out-and-back suitable for all ages.
The course includes elevation at certain points and features waterfront vistas and shaded sections through nearby parkland. The event reported 1,430 runners in the previous year and has been operating since 2022. The organiser highlights coastal attractions in the Port Stephens and Shoal Bay region, including beaches, sand dunes and local bush trails such as Mount Tomaree and Tomaree National Park.
Event initiatives include a move to pin-free race bibs using reusable BibSnaps to reduce waste. Run Port Stephens partners with the Explore Foundation as its event charity partner to support community and conservation projects overseas.
