Run Past Cancer 5K and Fun Run : Wellsboro, PA
Run Past Cancer is a community fundraising event organized by the American Cancer Society in partnership with Tioga Running Club. The event takes place at the Patterson Trailhead, 32 Fellows Drive, on the Pine Creek Rail to Trail in Wellsboro, in front of Wellsboro House and behind Pinnacle Towers. Its purpose is to raise money to support cancer patients in Tioga County; proceeds are directed to the American Cancer Society and checks are made payable to that organization.
Two distances are offered:
- 5K run
- 1 mile walk/run
Registration options include online registration and paper registration forms that can be picked up at Wild Asaph Outfitters, 71 Main Street, Wellsboro. A registration day fee for the 1 mile event is listed as $15 with a maximum family fee of $30; the 5K entry fee is listed as $25. Registration closes on October 29.
Event participants are eligible for prizes and many community members have donated gifts for awards. Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be given in multiple costume categories including Best Dressed, Funniest, Scariest, Most Unusual, Cutest, Best Fictional Character, Best Group, and Coolest Celebrity.
