Run of the Dead
Run of the Dead takes place on November 1, 2026 at Patton Park Recreation Center, 2301 Woodmere, Detroit, MI 48209. The event offers timed races in two distances and includes on-site vendors, an ofrenda, light bites and entertainment.

The event is a fundraiser for the Center of Music & Performing Arts Southwest COMPÁS. COMPÁS focuses on performing arts training and cultural experiences with an emphasis on youth socio-emotional development and on preserving Latinx heritage in Southwest Detroit.
The event recognizes the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos. An ofrenda will be created and displayed. Participants may wear traditional face paint, flowers and attire. The race is USATF certified and chip timed by Ope Racing Co.
Logistics include on-site check in and packet pickup, vendor areas and guidance from volunteers and signs. Awards include medals for first and second place in both distances and overall male and female winners for each category. Registration opens March 31, 2026 and closes September 1, 2026; listed fees are $45.00 for the 5K and $50.00 for the 10K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
