About the Event
Run Like a Girl is a community walk and run event held at Siena University in Loudonville. The event serves to increase awareness and support for victims and survivors of sexual violence. Participants gather outside of the UHY near the Marcelle Athletic Complex and the baseball field to take part in the activity.
Course Information
The primary distance for this event is 1.5 miles. This specific distance represents the statistic from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center indicating that one in five women in the United States has experienced completed or attempted rape. Participants have the option to complete the route a second time to cover a longer distance. The course follows the sidewalks and pavement on the college campus.
Participation and Support
Participation in the event is free of charge, and registration is open to students, faculty, and athletes from Siena University and Union College, as well as members of the wider community. Organizers accept donations for the Unity House of Troy and collect feminine hygiene products, such as pads, tampons, and liners, during the reception. Parking for attendees is available in Lot F, Lot X, or Lot U. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
