The course runs through the redwood forest and is presented by Redwood Parks Conservancy to support conservation projects in Redwood National and State Parks and other nearby public lands.

Fees published are $50 for race entry plus a shirt if registered by March 21 to guarantee a shirt, $25 for race entry only, $40 for shirt only, and free entry for children under 12. Shirts are unisex and may be available for purchase at the event while supplies last. The organizer states that entry fees are non refundable.
The event includes a post race gathering at the Visitor Center with live music weather permitting and light snacks and refreshments. The occasion coincides with a Hike and Bike Day, when Newton B. Drury Parkway is closed to vehicle traffic to allow walking and biking. Organizers note that Exit 765 on North Newton B. Drury Parkway will be closed for the event and advise using Exit 753 on Highway 101 for access.
