Hootenanny Endurance Run
The Hootenanny Endurance Run in Gregory, Michigan offers timed endurance races and a Last One Standing loop event on dirt roads and trails. Timed races are run on a roughly 2 mile dirt road and trail loop that passes a fully stocked aid station each lap. Only complete loops are counted and participants may stop at the aid station or rest as needed.
Last One Standing follows a roughly 1 mile flat-ish dirt and gravel loop. Runners must complete each loop within a reducing time limit that begins with a 30 minute allowance for the first loop; failure to complete a loop within the allotted time results in elimination. Last One Standing competitors have access to a self-aid area and may set up a personal aid spot near the start/finish.
Distances
- 4 hour timed race
- 8 hour timed race
- 12 hour timed race
- Last One Standing loop event
Aid stations on the loop provide PB&Js, potatoes, salty snacks, sweet snacks, and fluids. Camping and bonfires are part of the weekend atmosphere and a communal post-race gathering is planned. All participants receive a custom Hootenanny medal regardless of number of loops completed. Special awards correspond to the longest distance completed for thresholds of 13.1 miles, 26.2 miles, 50K, and 50 miles. Time-based loop awards are limited to those registered in the timed events and Last One Standing participants are not eligible for those loop awards.
