Run Galway Bay Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K : Galway City
Run Galway Bay takes place on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 in Galway City with the race village at Nimmo’s Pier, Claddagh. The event offers three distances:
- 10K
- Half Marathon
- Full Marathon
The field is limited to up to 4,000 participants. The course runs along Galway Bay and is described as flat. Race packs will be posted to entrants during the week before the event; there is no number pickup and organisers will not post numbers to incomplete addresses. Safety pins are not included in the mailed pack but will be available at the start area.
There will be no bag drop and no official pacing groups for this edition, following a health and safety review. Water stations are placed along each course: the 10K has stations at mile 3 and at the finish, the half marathon at miles 1, 4, 7, 10 and the finish, and the full marathon at miles 1, 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23 and the finish. Toilets and medical support are provided along the route.
Organisers encourage arrival on foot or by public transport. Galway is served by bus and train services; Ceannt Station is about one mile from the start area. Parking in the city is metered with several multi-storey and pay-and-display car parks. Race safety information asks participants to follow instructions from marshals, Gardaí and medical staff and recommends not wearing headphones.
