Event overview
Run Galway Bay takes place on October 3, 2026, in Galway City with the race village at Nimmo's Pier, Claddagh. The event is billed as a flat course and is organised for up to 4,000 participants. Distances on offer include:
- 10K
- Half Marathon
- Full Marathon
Race logistics and services
Race numbers will be posted to participants during the week before the event; there is no number pickup on the day and numbers will not be posted to incomplete addresses. Safety pins are not included in posted race packs but will be available at the start area. There will be no bag drop on race day; participants are advised to arrive close to their start time ready to run. Pacing groups will not be provided this year.
Water stations are placed as follows:
- 10K: at mile 3 and at the finish
- Half Marathon: at miles 1, 4, 7, 10 and at the finish
- Full Marathon: at miles 1, 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23 and at the finish
There will be parking restrictions along the route and the course will be closed to traffic on race day. Galway is served by bus and train; Ceannt Station is about one mile from the start. City buses, taxis and a public bike hire scheme operate within the city. Race marshals, police and medical staff will be on the route and water stations and toilets will be provided.
