About the race
The Run for Wildlife NIGHT 5k is a timed evening 5 kilometre event held on 10 January 2027 at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Doncaster. Entrants receive park entry for the event day with access from 09:45 and the park closing at 16:00 for race preparation; last entry on the day is 14:00. The event capacity is 1600 participants, organised into two waves of 800 each and runners are set off in predicted time order within each wave.
The race is chip timed and time begins when a runner crosses the finish timing line. The course starts in the park grounds and finishes near the Hive. The route follows main park paths on a firm surface, is subtly lit for night running, and organisers request no torches to avoid disturbing animals. Buggies are not permitted for this night event.
Finish-line provisions include a medal and refreshments. Entry prices are £24.00 to £26.00 and include park entry on the event day. A virtual option is available for £13.50 and includes the same medal, with an optional t-shirt. The event uses an animal theme for its medal and apparel; the 2027 animal star is the Amur leopard, noted in the event material as critically endangered with an estimated 75 individuals in the wild and highlighted as the design inspiration for medals and t-shirts.
