Run for Water Trail Race on Sumas Mountain
The event takes place on rugged single track trails with views of the Fraser River and the Fraser Valley. Three distances are offered for 2026, each with distinct elevation profiles and varied trail conditions.
- 10 km with roughly 450 metres of elevation gain
- 25 km with roughly 1300 metres of elevation gain
- 50 km with roughly 2600 metres of elevation gain
Trails include roots, rocks, mud, climbs and flowing single track. The 25 km route description notes a start at the lower day-use parking off Taggart Road, a climb via Squid Line Trail, sections on Glen Ryder Trail to Taggart Peak (about 790 m), passages on Noah Fear Trail, Rock Diva, Time Killer and Centennial Trail, a long climb around Chadsey Lake to Sumas Peak (about 905 m), then descent via Knob Gobbler and the Holiday Sauce, Extra Sauce, Pre-Peel and Emma Peel trails.
The course will be extensively marked with flagging, signage and course marshals on race day. The event is cupless so participants should bring a water bottle or flasks to fill along the course. A sandwich provided by Lepp’s Bakehouse is available at the finish and a piece of race swag is included. Race entry fees fund clean water projects for families in Uganda and the DRC. Full payment is due at registration and is non-refundable; donations or fundraising above the entry fee are tax receiptable. An orientation run is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 at the Sumas Mountain lower parking area. The race is Trail Sisters approved and commits to equal opportunities for all racers.
