Run for Water Trail Race
The Run for Water Trail Race takes place on Sumas Mountain over rugged single-track trails with vistas of the Fraser River and the Fraser Valley. The event offers three distances.
- 10K roughly 450 metres elevation gain
- 25K roughly 1 300 metres elevation gain
- 50K roughly 2 600 metres elevation gain
Each entry includes a piece of race swag and a Lepp's Bakehouse sandwich at the finish. The race is cupless so runners must bring their own water bottle or flasks to refill at on-course water points. Aid stations are provided along the route. Full payment is due at registration and is non-refundable. Donations or funds raised above the entry fee are tax receiptable. It is possible to switch to a shorter distance after registration at no cost if the organizer is notified one week before race day.
Course descriptions note roots, rocks, mud, steep climbs and technical descents. The route reaches two main summits in Sumas Mountain Regional Park, including Taggart Peak at about 790 metres and Sumas Peak at about 905 metres, and features long climbs, flowing single-track sections and technical trail segments. The race is Trail Sisters approved, reflecting a commitment to equal opportunities in trail racing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
