Event Overview
The Run for the Rose is a multi-distance running event held at Alamitos Beach in Long Beach, California. The event takes place on an open beach path where participants share the space with other pedestrians and cyclists. The course is designed as an out and back route, with specific laps required depending on the chosen distance.
Participants can choose from four different distances:
- 5k (one lap of the 5k route)
- 10k (two laps of the 5k route)
- 10 Miler (two laps of the 5m route)
- Half Marathon (two laps of the 5m route and one lap of the 5k route)
Course and Support
The running surface is a beach path where runners are instructed to stay on the right side to allow space for cyclists on the left. The route is marked with chalk, directional signs, and flags. On-course support includes a fully stocked water station, while the finish line provides an aid station equipped with water, electrolytes, gels, and fruit snacks.
Course marshals and crew members are present along the route, and a gear check is available at the registration tent for participants who bring their own bags.
Participation Details
The event has a course closure time limit of 3 hours and 20 minutes for both the Half Marathon and 10 Miler distances. All finishers receive a medal upon completion. Additionally, first-place medals are awarded to the top male and female finishers in each distance category. Participants must wear their race bibs on the front of their shirts for timing and photography purposes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
