Run for the River takes place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Asbury, NJ 08802. The event features a 4-mile run with a start/finish at Franklin Township Fire Department Station 3. Parking is available at 410 Old Main Street, Asbury. Participants may choose to run or walk the course.
Course, awards, purpose, and registration
The course is a scenic loop that passes streams, pastures, historic buildings, and the Musconetcong River on a mostly flat route. Medals will be presented to the first three male and first three female finishers in these age categories: 14 & under, 15-20, 21-25, 26-30, 31-35, 36-40, 46-50, 51-55, 56-60, 61-65, 65+, and for best overall.
Run for the River is an annual fundraiser for the Musconetcong Watershed Association (MWA). MWA is a nonprofit formed in 1992; its mission is to protect and improve the Musconetcong River and its watershed through education and outreach to local schools, landowners, and municipal officials. MWA also conducts river cleanups and stream bank restoration projects. Funds from the event will support the MWA education program, River Watcher program, hiking and paddling trips, River Talks, and related activities.
Current registration price is $35; the price increases after April 19, 2026 and will be $40 on race day. Those who register before April 18 have the option to choose a commemorative short-sleeved t-shirt and will receive a free swag bag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
