Run for the Ring 5K & Kids Fun Run
Run for the Ring is a community running event organized by the Children’s Diabetes Foundation to support type 1 diabetes programs and research. The 2026 edition takes place Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.
The event includes two races:
- 5K Run/Walk around the Anschutz Medical Campus, professionally timed.
- Kids Fun Run for ages 2–10 held in the Kids' Zone with bounce houses, mazes, and water play.
Registration for both the 5K and the Fun Run includes breakfast bites, a race bib, and a Run for the Ring souvenir t-shirt. The 5K includes a timing chip. Participants with type 1 diabetes may opt for a special "I’m the 1" t-shirt, and all participants can decorate a back bib that says "Running for my 1." A Sleep-In registration option provides a performance t-shirt by mail for those who wish to support without attending on race day.
Event features include a Kids' Zone, honorarium yard signs placed along the course, exhibitors and sponsors, team registrations, fundraising pages, and an awards ceremony recognizing overall winners, top fundraisers, largest team, and winners across multiple age groups including categories for participants with type 1 diabetes.
