Run for the Ring 5K and Kids Fun Run
Run for the Ring is a community fundraising event on August 1, 2026 that supports the Children’s Diabetes Foundation and programs for people affected by type 1 diabetes. The event is held at The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.
Two race options are offered:
- 5K Run/Walk professionally timed 5K around the Anschutz Medical Campus
- Kids Fun Run for children ages 2 to 10 with activities in the Kids Zone
The Kids Zone includes bounce houses, mazes, water play with squirt guns, and other outdoor activities. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times; participants are asked to plan supervision if a parent or guardian runs the 5K.
Registration benefits include breakfast bites, a race bib, a Run for the Ring souvenir t-shirt, and a timing chip for 5K entrants. Participants with type 1 diabetes may choose an “I’m the 1” t-shirt, and all participants can decorate a back bib that reads “Running for my 1.” A Sleep-In registration option allows donation without attending and includes a mailed performance t-shirt.
The event recognizes winners at an awards ceremony for overall placements, age group categories, top fundraisers, largest team, and top participants with type 1 diabetes. Team registration and fundraising options are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
