Event details

Run for the Ribbon 5K is Michigan Men's Health Foundation's annual event on Sunday, June 21, 2026, held at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak, Michigan. The event supports prostate cancer survivors and their families. Distances offered include:

  • 5K run/walk (timed)
  • 1 Mile Stroll inside the zoo
  • Doze for Dads (virtual only)

All in-person participants receive a race shirt, a medal, and complimentary Detroit Zoo entry. Dogs are not allowed at the event per zoo regulations. Parking is available in the zoo parking structure and in the surface lot to the left of the main entrance.

Activities and logistics

The event features multiple ways to honor loved ones, including a free "In Celebration of" sign placed along the route, an Honor and Remember Men's Health Hero Wall for pinned ribbons, and back bibs and colored beads for naming and indicating a loved one's fight with prostate cancer. To have a printed dedication sign, registration must be completed by midnight on June 17; a limited number of blank signs will be available on site. Awards include overall male and female winners and age group awards. Age-based discounts are available for children ages 0-2 and 3-13; stroller entries receive a shirt, medal, and zoo entry with their bib. Packet pickup details are to follow.
