Event overview
The Michigan Men's Health Foundation presents the annual Run for the Ribbon 5K on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak, Michigan. The event supports prostate cancer survivors and their families. Race options include:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Stroll
- Doze for Dads (virtual only)
All in-person participants receive a race shirt, a medal, and complimentary entry to the Detroit Zoo. The Doze for Dads option is for remote participation only; registrants who choose it are not permitted to take part in person without switching to an in-person entry.
Activities and logistics
Participants can create team or personal fundraising pages with photos, a story, and fundraising goals; each page has a custom URL. Prostate cancer survivors are invited to the Michigan Men's Health Foundation tent to receive a survivor gift.
Event features include free "In Celebration of" signs placed along the route (must register by midnight on June 17 to have a sign printed; blank signs will be limited on site and signs cannot be shipped), an Honor and Remember wall for pinned ribbons, and back bibs with colored beads showing a loved one’s story. Awards will be given for overall male and female winners and for male and female age groups; there are awards for top fundraisers and a prize for the most recent father.
Age-based discounts apply for children ages 0-2 and 3-13. Children under 2 receive free zoo entry; stroller entries still receive a t-shirt, medal, and zoo entry with a race bib. Parking is available in the zoo parking structure or the surface lot to the left of the main entrance. Packet pickup details will be provided later.
